The Alderete Family
Business Owner and Lead Taxidermist – Jason Alderete
HOW WE STARTED…
We’ve been asked by many…”what made your family get into the taxidermy business?” It all started when our daughter, Madeline was struck on the foot by a copperhead snake. Upon returning home from the ER, she skinned, fleshed, and tanned the snake. In doing so, it sparked an interest in learning more about the art of taxidermy. Her father, Jason, had always dabbled in taxidermy so she had been around it from an early age but now after this experience, developed her own interest and curiosity.
Wanting to learn more, at age 15, Madi attended the Lone Star State School of Taxidermy in Llano, otherwise known as the “Deer Capital of Texas”. Since dad, Jason had recently retired from a 24-year career with Houston Police Dept., he was able to enroll and accompany his young daughter across Texas for the summer. Both Jason and Madeline excelled in wildlife artistry and successfully completed their hands on training program. As it turns out, Madeline enjoyed it, but Jason loved it and turned something he previously he dabbled into a passion.
After graduating, our family officially opened Brazos Bend Taxidermy as a full-time endeavor. Jason spends his days following his passion for taxidermy while Madeline is a realtor for Remax-Opportunities in Needville. Our son, Ryan, now a veteran, finished serving in the United States Air Force and is beginning his career as an electrician. We are very proud and grateful for his service to our country, as well as all veterans who have served.
Not a day goes by that we don’t stop and realize how blessed we are to have had some of the best mentors, team, and colleagues (which we call friends). We would not have risen to the level of expertise without their mentorship and guidance. We appreciate the trust and support within our community and around the great State of Texas. We are grateful to have the opportunity to provide for our family and team, working creatively to bring joy to others. We look forward to …Preserving your Memories and meeting you and your family soon!
